Booking

Cottage 1, Cottage 2, Cottage 3 and La Suite can be booked directly through our secure online booking system, subject to their individual occupancy limits, availability and applicable minimum-stay requirements.

We have a minimum stay of 2 nights in April and October and a minimum stay of 3 nights in May, June, July, August and September.

For longer stays, please check availability through our booking system or contact us directly.

The whole Château offers 9 bedrooms with a maximum accommodation capacity of 14 guests.

Tourist tax: An additional tourist tax is payable by taxable guests and is collected separately on behalf of the Communauté d’Agglomération du Gard Rhodanien and the Département du Gard. The amount is calculated in accordance with the applicable statutory tariff and depends on the accommodation, the number of taxable guests and the number of nights. The tourist tax is not included in the advertised accommodation price and is collected separately, either on arrival or before departure. Children under 18 are exempt.

Check-in and Check-out

Check-in is generally available from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and check-out must be completed by 11:00 am.

We understand that travel delays can occur. If you expect to arrive late, please contact us in advance on +33 6 73 23 96 12 or +33 6 81 41 46 41.

Guests arriving after the stated check-in time without prior notification may not be accepted.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that circumstances can change and that cancellations may sometimes be necessary.

For cancellations made at least six weeks before the scheduled arrival date, a credit note may be issued for amounts already paid, valid for 12 months and applicable towards a future stay. Rates for the new dates may differ from those of the original booking.

We do not offer cash refunds.

For cancellations made less than six weeks before arrival, payments are non-refundable and dates cannot be changed unless otherwise agreed in advance.

Whole-Château stays and private events are subject to the cancellation and payment terms specified in their individual contractual agreement.

Pets

We are happy to welcome a small, well-behaved dog or cat accompanied by responsible owners, subject to prior agreement.

Pets must not sleep on beds or other furnishings, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their animals and for any damage they may cause.

Please be aware that our own cats, Merlin and Mattieu, may also be seen around the property and gardens.

What services are available?

Château St Victor La Coste operates as a meublé de tourisme (furnished tourist accommodation).

Your accommodation will be thoroughly cleaned and prepared before your arrival. Room-cleaning services are not provided during stays of up to three nights. For stays longer than three nights, additional cleaning services may be arranged by prior agreement and subject to availability.

We want our guests to feel welcome and enjoy the unique experience of staying in a 16th-century Château, with all its history, character, quirks and charm.

When possible, we are also delighted to share the history of the Château with our guests.

Is there air conditioning and Wi-Fi?

The Château was built in 1543, with thick stone walls designed to help keep the interior naturally cooler during the summer and protected from the wind during the winter.

Air conditioning is not generally available throughout the property due to restrictions associated with installing external units on the historic stone walls. Fans are provided in the cottages.

Wifi is available throughout the whole property including all cottages and around the pool 

Can you drink the water?

Yes. The water is suitable for drinking.

Guests are, of course, welcome to purchase bottled water if they prefer. However, we encourage reducing the use of single-use plastics wherever possible as part of our commitment to respecting the environment.

How do we get there?

The nearest airports are:

Marseille: approximately 1.5 hours by car
Nîmes: approximately 1 hour by car
Montpellier: approximately 1 hour 10 minutes by car
Lyon: approximately 2 hours by car, with convenient train connections to Avignon.

The nearest TGV station is Avignon TGV, approximately 30 minutes from the Château by car.

We strongly recommend hiring a car. Rental cars are available at the airports and at Avignon TGV station.

Many guests travel via Paris and take the high-speed TGV from Paris Gare de Lyon to Avignon. The journey takes approximately 2 hours 40 minutes, making this a convenient alternative to driving from Paris.

Taxis are available and we have a very reliable taxi service in the village which can be pre booked  Tonio speaks good English and French and takes credit cards.  

Where do we eat?

The cottages and La Suite have access to a well-equipped communal kitchen, with designated fridge and cupboard space. Guests can use the kitchen to prepare their own meals during their stay.

A selection of teas and coffees is available for guests to prepare themselves throughout the day.

For guests who would like additional options during their stay, we are happy to recommend professional private chefs and catering companies. These are independent suppliers who must be contracted and paid directly by guests and are not services provided by Château St Victor La Coste.

There is a restaurant in the village, and there are many excellent restaurants within a short drive or taxi journey. We are happy to provide recommendations.

The local general store, L’Épicerie, offers a selection of products for guests wishing to cook. We can also provide information about local markets and places to shop.

There is also a Utile supermarket on the edge of the village, together with a petrol station and electric vehicle charging facilities.

What is there to do?

In addition to enjoying the swimming pool and walks around the Château, there are many historic sites, villages, vineyards and summer festivals to discover in the surrounding area.

Popular destinations include Uzès, Castillon-du-Gard, Nîmes and Avignon.

Guests can also visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Pont du Gard, where kayaking and other activities are available nearby, as well as its museum and historic site.

The Roman amphitheatres of Orange and Nîmes are also well worth visiting, while the Palais des Papes in Avignon regularly hosts exhibitions and cultural events.

The Château is surrounded by renowned wine-producing areas, including Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Tavel, Laudun and Lirac, where various independent vineyards offer tours and tastings.

After booking, guests receive our Château information guide containing recommendations for restaurants, places to visit and things to do in the surrounding area. We recommend making restaurant reservations in advance, particularly during the summer months.

Are we pet friendly?

We have two cats, Merlin and Mathew, living at the Château.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior agreement, with a maximum of one dog per cottage. Other pets may also be considered by prior agreement.

Owners are responsible for their pets at all times and must be considerate of the peace, comfort and safety of other guests and animals at the property.

Can we swim at any time?

Our heated magnesium swimming pool is generally accessible to guests throughout the day.

However, village quiet hours begin at 11:00 pm, and we ask all guests to respect the tranquillity of our neighbours and other guests, particularly when using the pool in the evening.

The pool and surrounding lights are controlled by a remote control accessible to guests. We ask the last guests leaving the communal pool area at night to switch off the lights.

How does the communal kitchen work?

The kitchen is a shared space, and we ask all guests to be considerate of others.

Please wash dishes, cooking equipment and utensils after use, either by hand or using the dishwasher. If you use the dishwasher, please empty it once the cycle has finished when appropriate.

Guests are asked to separate food waste, plastics, paper and glass using the receptacles provided.

As the kitchen is communal, please avoid occupying excessive worktop or storage space and leave the kitchen clean and ready for other guests to use.

Are we allowed to take photographs and videos?

We understand that the Château is a beautiful and unique place and that guests naturally wish to take photographs and videos as memories of their stay.

Personal holiday photography is welcome, provided that the privacy and enjoyment of other guests are respected.

Professional or commercial photography, filming and photoshoots are treated differently and must be arranged with us in advance. Additional fees and specific conditions may apply, particularly where exclusive access to areas of the property is required.

Please avoid prolonged or intrusive photography or filming in communal areas when other guests are present, particularly around the swimming pool. Guests must respect the privacy of others and should never photograph or film other guests, especially children, without appropriate permission.
